PUERTO RICO — Rising junior Isalys Quiñones earned a spot on the Puerto Rican Women’s National Team as announced this week by the Puerto Rico Basketball Federation.

“We are so excited for Ice to have the opportunity to represent Puerto Rico, or as her mother Fran would say, ‘my little island,’ this summer,” said Belle Koclanes, the Gail Koziara Boudreaux ’82 and Family Head Coach of Women’s Basketball at Dartmouth. “Ice has devoted an incredible amount of time to her skill development over the past two seasons and is eager to continue to grow. Practicing alongside of her national team members will immediately elevate her level of play.”

Tryouts were held last weekend for the 12-member team, which will train leading up to the Women’s Centrobasket Championship, a five-day tournament hosted by St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands on July 12-16. The team will compete for one of three qualifying slots for the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup on Aug. 6-13.

“Our DWB family is proud of Ice and eager to follow her progress throughout the summer,” added Koclanes. “We’re also looking forward to her return to Hanover in September as we embark on our 2017-2018 season.”
