The playoff cinderella team of the entire state. It’s rare to see a team ranked nowhere near the top 20 jolt upwards like this in the postseason, but Del Norte has earned it.
The Nighthawks have come along way from results earlier in the season including a 77-35 loss to Bonita Vista and a 23-point loss to Mission Hills, which they would lose to again before beating in the state playoffs. With regular season losses to Westview and Mount Miguel also getting avenged in the postseason, Del Norte is cleared for takeoff after making the CIFSDS Open Division finals and now beating Marlborough, Mission Hills, and Orange Lutheran. Can it pull one more upset to beat Santiago and win a regional title?
