For the first time, the home fans at Antelope Gymnasium will get to watch a nationally-ranked Grand Canyon women’s basketball team play.

Ranked for the first time in school history two weeks ago — No. 21 in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Poll — the Antelopes went to the road and won two games at the CCAA/PacWest Challenge in San Francisco last weekend.

No. 19 this week, GCU takes on NAIA foe Fresno Pacific 4 p.m. Saturday at Antelope Gymnasium.
Grand Canyon (10-1) takes a nine-game winning streak into the contest, while Fresno Pacific has lost five in a row. The Sunbirds also play on Friday at La Sierra.

GCU has won five straight at home, including the finale from the 2009-10 season. The Antelopes are looking for their first-ever win against Fresno Pacific. They are 0-2 all-time. Saturday’s meeting is the first since the 1992-93 season.

Following Saturday’s game, GCU’s men’s team will take on Montana State Billings at 6 p.m. A third game Saturday will have defending Division II men’s basketball national champion Cal Poly Pomona taking on Simon Fraser at 8 p.m.
