POCATELLO, Idaho -The Idaho state women’s basketball team has taken advantage of the NCAA early signing period to sign five players to National Letters of Intent the team announced Thursday.

The Bengals add five players; two forwards, two guards and a point guard.

Jenna Morch (Lebanon, Ore.), Megan Hochstein (Meridian, Idaho), Freya Newton (Palmerston North, New Zealand), Stephanie Somers (Lynden, Wash.) and Juliet Jones (San Diego, Calif.) have all signed NLIs to play basketball at ISU.

At point guard the Bengals signed 5-9 Jones from Cathedral Catholic high School in San Diego.

Jones is a four-year varsity player with that average 9.1 PPG and 5.9 APG; she is also the team captain for the dons.

 Offensive Player of the Year.

“We fell we’ve signed a quick, talented PG out of San Diego in Juliet,” Sobolewski said. “She has a great feel for the game and knows how to get people the ball as well as score.”

Beyond their athleticism Sobolewski is excited about the opportunity to bring great students and leaders to Idaho State.

“We are very excited for these young ladies to be Bengals,” Sobolewski said. “We think that they, as well as their families, are a great fit for ISU. We’ve really enjoyed getting to know everyone in the recruiting process and look forward to getting them to Pocatello.”

The current Bengal team is 2-0 heading into a nine-game road swing. Their first game of that stretch will be Friday at 6 p.m. mtn. at Illinois-Chicago.
