Will You Be Next?

Statistics vary but on average about 3% of high school boys and girls basketball players go on to play basketball in the NCAA. The question is – will that be you? It takes more than wanting to play in college to make that dream a reality. You must apply yourself consistently and daily to achieve your goals. The coaching staff at San Diego Sol knows what it takes to get to the next level and can give you the tools to succeed. To date, over 100 of our alumni have gone on to play in college.

Coach Vaughn
Coach VaughnBoys Program Director
Coach Vaughn played for the 2-time Southern California Champion San Diego Sol men’s professional ABA team. He played professionally in Belgium, China, Germany, Mexico and South America. Vaughn graduated from Colorado Christian University with a degree in Business Management. As a college senior he was pre-season Player of the Year and was selected as 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-American. During his career he set all-time records for most points, assists and steals. He still holds the all-time record for assists. Raised in San Diego, Coach Vaughn went to Scripps Ranch High School where he averaged 24.4 points per game as a senior and was recognized as one of the Top Seniors to Watch in California. CCU Mens Basketball Records – #1 All-time in steals, #2 All-time in points, #4 All-time in assists, #5 All-time in free throws made, #7 All-time in 3-point made
Coach Harris
Coach HarrisGirls Program Director
Coach Harris is a full time coach for San Diego Sol. Harris is our Camps and Clinics Director and his knowledge and enthusiasm have contributed significantly to the growth and success of these programs. Coach Harris is married and has three children, all of whom have grown up in the gym and play for the Sol program. Harris coached at San Diego Christian College and was also the assistant coach at Cathedral Catholic High School which won the 2019 CIF Open Division. Coach Harris played on our inaugural San Diego Sol Men’s Professional ABA team that won the 2011 Southern California Division Championship. Originally from Toronto, Canada Harris came to California to attend San Diego Christian College. He played all four years at SDCC leading the Hawks to two National Championships (NCCAA). He earned 1st team All-American honors and graduated with a degree in Kinesiology.

GET IN THE GAME

We Teach the Fundamentals.

We offer 3 distinct levels of youth teams to ensure your child plays at the pace that is right for them. Whether they are picking up a ball for the first time or preparing for elite high school competition, we have a spot for them. All players who tryout are placed on one of our teams – DELTA (Development), LOCAL (Intermediate) or TRAVEL (Advanced).

Is your child brand new to basketball? We recommend registering for our Skills and Drills program first. Two to three months of foundational classes will give them the confidence they need to succeed at tryouts!

DELTA TEAMS

For Beginners & Developing Players
$175/Month (3 Month Season)

Delta league teams are comprised exclusively of Sol players and teams will be formed for parity. The D-league allows your child to play with and against like talent in a controlled setting focusing on skill development and understanding of the game. The Club reserves the right to have the season either be teams that play 3 on 3 or 5 on 5 for games. For the 3rd/4th grade level, there is potential for the league to be Co-Ed.

 

LOCAL TEAMS

For Intermediate Players
$175/Month (3 Month Season)

Designed for intermediate players who want high-level coaching without the travel commitment. Perfect for multi-sport athletes who still want to compete.

 

TRAVEL TEAMS

For Advanced Competitors
$375/Month (3 Month Season)

For the advanced player ready to test their skills against top competition. This program requires a high level of fundamentals, high basketball IQ, and a commitment to tournament weekends.

AFTER TRYOUTS

Your coach will contact you by MONDAY, MARCH 30, telling you when your practice days and times will be. Practices are twice a week with games on the weekends.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

There is a $195 one-time new player fee. This covers your Official Sol Uniform and unlocks exclusive discounts to admissions and camps.

*Please ensure your athlete can commit to the season before registering. Once a player is assigned to a team, no refunds will be issued.

At San Diego Sol, we look for more than just raw talent. We look for character. Earning a position on a team will be based upon the following criteria:

  • Skills and Ability: Basketball fundamentals and IQ.
  • Heart and Hustle: Effort on defense and loose balls.
  • Commitment: Dedication to the team schedule.
  • Work Ethic: The drive to get better every practice.
  • Coachability: Respect for coaches and teammates.

We believe in promotion. As a player’s skills and commitment improve, we may move them to a higher-level team to ensure they are always challenged.

Consistency is key to development. All teams practice twice a week at our home facility.

TEAM PLACEMENT POLICY: All registered players will be placed on a team! Teams are formed by age, skill level, experience, and roster balance. San Diego Sol determines final placement to create the best development environment for every player.

NEW PLAYER POLICY: One-time $195 fee covers player insurance, Sol uniform, discounts on admission, and camps.

GAME ADMISSION: There is an admission fee to watch games. General admission is $10, and children under 6 are free. However, Sol players have access to a Sol Family Card, which provides 10 scans for $65.You can purchase the pass here Sol Family Card
